Flipnem ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Samuel Cooper, an individual based in Washington State, USA. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use flipnem.com.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

Account credentials — email address and password (hashed; we never store the plaintext), or your Google account email when you sign in with Google OAuth.
Flashcard content — decks, notes, cards, and any media files you upload.
Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers.

Information collected automatically

Usage data — study session activity, review history, and storage usage associated with your account.
Server logs — IP addresses and request metadata retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account.
To deliver the core flashcard study service.
To process subscription payments and send billing-related emails.
To send transactional emails (e.g. email confirmation, password reset).
To monitor service health, diagnose bugs, and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your flashcard content for advertising or machine learning.

3. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following processors only to the extent necessary to operate the service:

Google (OAuth) — if you sign in with Google, your email and name are provided by Google. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Stripe — processes subscription payments. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Resend — delivers transactional email. Your email address is shared only for delivery. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
DigitalOcean — hosts our servers and database in the United States. See DigitalOcean's Privacy Policy.

4. Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information and flashcard content are permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Anonymized aggregate statistics and server logs may be retained longer for operational purposes.

5. Your Rights

You may at any time:

Access or export your data by downloading your decks from the app.
Correct your account information via the Settings page.
Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at sam@flipnem.com.

If you are a resident of Washington State, you have rights under the Washington Privacy Act, including the right to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at sam@flipnem.com.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed using Argon2id. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure.

7. Children

Flipnem is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, contact us at sam@flipnem.com.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
